Elsie (Wolf) Urness, 97, Beulah, died peacefully on Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2008, at the Knife River Care Center, Beulah.
Elsie's funeral services are at 10 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 8, 2008, at Zion Lutheran Church, Beulah, with the Rev. Bill Wagner officiating.
Burial is in the church cemetery.
Visitation is from 1-2 p.m. on Thursday at the Knife River Care Center, Beulah, and from 3-7 p.m. at Seibel Funeral Home, Beulah.
Elsie was born in Krem on Jan. 15, 1911, to Samuel and Maria (Schuh) Miller.

She worked alongside her brothers and sisters on the farm and graduated from Eureka Lutheran College High School, Eureka, S.D.
In July 1934, when she was 23, she married Albert Wolf.
They moved to Beulah shortly after their marriage, where Albert had built a house for them.
Elsie and Albert had three children before he passed away in 1955. She then attended college at Dickinson State University.
Afterwards, she worked in a partnership with Thelanders in managing the Ben Franklin store in Beulah.
In September 1962, Elsie married Lawrence (Ernie) Urness.
Shortly after getting married, Elsie and her youngest son, Doran, moved to Amarillo, Texas, where her husband was stationed in the Air Force.
They later moved back to Beulah.

In April 1977, Ernie passed away.
Elsie kept busy with fishing, sewing, quilting, embroidering, canning and gardening.
Elsie was active at Zion Lutheran Church, where she was active in the ladies bible study.
She also taught Sunday school classes for a number of years.
Elsie was a member of the Grey Ladies.
Elsie helped plan family reunions and various family events.
She took pride in raising her three children and also helped raise three of her grandchildren.
Many of her brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews had lived with her while they attended school.

Elsie was a kind, loving and caring mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother.
She made all of her children and grandchildren quilts.
Elsie also enjoyed taking them fishing and made many memories and touched many lives.
She will be missed by family and many of her friends she made over her life.
Elsie is survived by two sons, Dennis (Mary Margaret) Wolf, Dickinson, and Doran Wolf, Beulah; daughter, Judith Krohn, Longmont, Colo.; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Walter Miller, Hazen; one sister, Frieda Berg, Hazen; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Reinhold, Arthur and Oscar; five sisters, Martha, Regina, Lydia, Pauline and Hulda.
Memorials are preferred to the Knife River Care Center in Beulah.
