Enforcement program extended for Highway 85

BISMARCK - The North Dakota Highway Patrol will extend the time period to strictly enforce traffic laws on U.S. Highway 85.

Trooper worked 68.5 hours of overtime and issued 105 citations Jan. 2 to March 13 on one of the busiest Oil Patch highways. They stopped drivers displaying crash causing behaviors. Almost half of the violations were for speeding. One person was arrested for driving under the influence.

The Highway 85 Aggressive Driving Enforcement Program has been extended to June 1 due to positive feedback. Troopers will strictly enforce traffic laws to increase public safety.
