Esther Kittelson

Esther E. Kittelson, 93, Beach, passed away on Tuesday, May 27, 2008, at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center, Bismarck, after a long life filled with many blessings.

Esther E. Kittelson, 93, Beach, passed away on Tuesday, May 27, 2008, at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center, Bismarck, after a long life filled with many blessings.

Visitation is from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Friday, May 30, 2008, in the chapel of the Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home, Beach, with a prayer service at 7 p.m.

Esther's funeral services are at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 31, 2008, at First Lutheran Church, Beach, with the Rev. Paul Peterson officiating.

Interment is in the Beach Lutheran Cemetery.

Esther was born on Jan. 5, 1915, in Beach, the daughter of Charles and Rosa (Gifford) Schaal. Esther was raised on a farm north of Beach. She graduated from Beach High School with the class of 1934.

On Sept. 25, 1935, Esther was united in marriage to Donald Kittelson. The two became one.

Together, in spite of the Great Depression, Esther and Donald were able to face life's challenges through love and hard work.

Esther and Donald farmed and raised their family of three daughters.

The Kittelsons actively contributed to their community. Esther had an amazing inner strength, a never-ending positive attitude and an ability to accept what could not be changed.

Esther was the heart of her family. Her legacy will live on.

Esther is survived by her children, Elaine Bares (Larry), Dickinson, Darlene Peterson (Chuck), West Fargo, and Colleen Clark, Stanton; her grandchildren, Renee Fransen (John), Coleharbor, Don Bares (Pam), Dickinson, Shawn Kukowski (Ione), Dickinson, Michelle Torzillo (Johnny), Mountain View, Wyo., Tani Short (Dave), Des Moines, Iowa, and Mike Peterson, Salt Lake City, Utah; her great-grandchildren, Carrie Fransen, Brian Fransen, Jeremy Kukowski (Jen), Cole Dolezal, Ali Torzillo, Zac Short, Lexi Short, Bradley Bares and Brittany Bares; her great-great-grandchild, Addison Kukowski; her sisters-in-law, Clarice "Sis" Kukowski, Ella Schaal, Mary Ellen Schaal and Joan Kittelson; and her special friend, Cil Deichert.

Esther was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Rosa; her husband, Donald; and her brothers, Al, Cliff and Charles Schaal.
