FARGO (AP) -- The cat population at the Fargo-Moorhead Humane Society has taken a big jump.
Executive Director Nukhet Hendricks says a man who is moving surrendered 34 cats this week.
Hendricks says the man had so many cats simply because he wanted "to do good." The man's cat family began with a box of kittens left on his doorstep and grew over the years.
Hendricks says the cats were well taken care of but since officials have no access to the animals' health history, they will get veterinary exams and vaccinations before they are put up for adoption.
