FARGO (AP) -- A trial might be held next year in the case of a student suing the Fargo school district for allegedly not sufficiently responding to complaints about years of harassment.
The student, who had a lazy eye and a speech impediment, is not named. The lawsuit seeks unspecified damages.
Plaintiff's attorney Pat Monson says the bullying was such common knowledge that it was the subject of a senior skit three years after her client transferred schools. School district attorney Gary Thune says the skit was stopped once school officials received complaints.
Superintendent Rick Buresh declined comment. Most claims are denied in the district's written response to the lawsuit, which was served in 2008 but not filed in court until February. At a recent scheduling hearing, attorneys were given an April 2011 deadline to be ready for trial.
