Motorcyclist dies from injuries suffered in Friday crash near Fargo

GARDNER, N.D. — A motorcyclist has died from injuries he received in a crash on Friday, June 24, north of Fargo, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.

Glenn Smith, 67, of Grandin, was driving a motorcycle north on Interstate 29 one mile south of Gardner on Friday afternoon at speeds between 65 and 70 mph, the patrol said. The speed limit was 75 mph.

Witnesses told authorities the motorcycle began to wobble before Smith laid the bike down and suffered serious injuries.

Smith was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, the patrol said.

Smith was flown by helicopter to a local hospital to be treated for his injuries. He died on Monday, according to the patrol.

The northbound lanes of I-29 were shut down for about an hour due to the crash. No other vehicles or motorists were involved, the patrol said.

Gardner is a town in Cass County that's about 25 miles north of Fargo.
