RICHARDTON -- A cigarette is believed to have started a field fire outside of Richardton on Monday afternoon, according to Richardton Fire Protection District Chief Jason Kostelecky.
The Richardton Fire Rural Fire Department responded to the fire around 3:20 p.m. Monday. Kostelecky estimates the fire burned around 100 acres of land. Despite the fire going up to a residence front yard, there was no damage to any homes or other buildings on the land. Kostelecky said as of Monday evening the fire was under control and only a few trees needed to be put out.
