MEDORA - A barn fire that broke out Sunday afternoon near the Painted Canyon has caused $150,000 in damages.
The Billings County Rural Fire Protection District responded at about 2 p.m. to Allan Richard’s residence, about three miles south of Painted Canyon, where Fire Chief Rodney Job believes a rock in a bale grinder caused a spark that flew into the barn.
“It got her going good,” Job said, adding dry conditions played a factor.
Twelve units from the fire protection district responded to the fire, which burned the barn, a calf shed and about 2 acres of grass. The fire was suppressed by 4:30 p.m., Job said.
The barn was a complete loss. No injuries were reported.
