Fire in electrical panel is caught in time

The Dickinson Rural Fire Department responded to a fire in the power room at Land O'Lakes Harvest States in Dickinson Sunday evening.

The department received the call at around 5:30 p.m. and responded with 22 firefighters and seven trucks, Chief Curt Lefor said.

A panel had been reset and shorted out, sparking the blaze, Lefor said.

While there is no estimate for the damage, the panel was destroyed and is a major loss, Lefor said. The fire was pretty much contained to the one panel, Lefor added.

"It could have been a very large fire," Lefor said.

The department remained on the scene until approximately 8:30 p.m.
