The south side of Dickinson will be ablaze for most of today. It's not a prediction, but rather a fact, given the city is hosting a regional fire school.
This afternoon, firefighters from the Dickinson, Dickinson Rural, Gladstone, Bowman, Marmarth and Williston fire departments are training using live props.
"It's open to any (firefighter) in what's considered to be the southwest region of the state," said Dickinson Fire Chief Bob Sivak.
The Grand Forks Fire Department is bringing a flammable liquids and gases trailer to run at least four different live fire training props that run off of propane.
Firefighters from Grand Forks also are going to act as instructors for the class.

"It's the first time we're using these particular props and that Grand Forks is in this region," Sivak said. "We're thinking it's going to be quite an interesting training session."
The training sessions lasts all day, beginning with an 8 a.m. registration and ending at 5 p.m. The classes are at the Dickinson Rural Fire Department. The hands-on training is at the training site immediately east of the Heart River Golf Course in south Dickinson.
The regional training is sponsored by the North Dakota Firefighters association, and each region hosts approximately one to two fire schools a year.
