Northwest SD man denies setting school classrooms on fire
EAGLE BUTTE, S.D. -- A 27-year-old Eagle Butte accused of setting fire to modular classrooms at a school in northwest South Dakota has denied the charges in a federal court appearance.
Shane Taken Alive appeared in court Thursday, Oct. 18, and denied the charges of buglary and arson.
Taken Alive is accused of entering modular classrooms at the Takini School in Howes in Meade County near the Cheyenne River Indian Reservation on Oct. 12, 2017, and setting them on fire. The classrooms were unoccupied at the time.
He faces up to five years in federal prison.
