Service center a total loss after fire in Casselton
CASSELTON, N.D. — A fire destroyed an automotive service center early Monday morning, April 29, but spared the nearby convenience store just off Interstate 94 about 20 miles west of Fargo.
Casselton Fire Chief Tim McLean said fire crews were called out shortly before 5:30 a.m. to Gordy's Service Center after getting reports of flames shooting through the roof of the service center. Gordy's Travel Plaza is a separate structure on the west side.
Nobody was inside the center when the fire started, McLean said. However, a firefighter was injured while attempting to respond to the fire.
By the time his department had extinguished the flames, the roof had collapsed, McLean said.
The fire department will continue to clean up the area prior to a fire marshal arriving to investigate the cause, he said.
