A brush fire broke out at approximately 2:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon on a property off of 40th Street Southwest and 116th Avenue Southwest in Dickinson. Responding to the call were apparatuses from The Dickinson Rural Fire Department, with assistance from the Dickinson Fire Department in mutual aid.
This fire marks the second in Dickinson over a two-day stretch, as affected areas of drought have grown more than 30% over the week in part due to persistent dry conditions and high winds. Fire dangers become increasingly a concern for local emergency management.
The Dickinson Fire Department would like to remind the public that Stark County is currently under a high fire rating, and all burning including outdoor/backyard fire pits, fireplaces and chimineas are prohibited. Gas grills or pellet smokers are allowed.
