BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) -- The former fire chief of the Belcourt Rural Fire Department says he will plead guilty to theft of government property.

Authorities say Francis Demery retitled into his own name a 1999 Chevrolet pickup truck he was using in his official capacity, and also used the vehicle for collateral on a loan.

The charge carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison. The government says it will recommend a sentence of probation and restitution for the value of the pickup.
