Former school custodian pleads not guilty

A 38-year-old former elementary school custodian pleaded not guilty to luring minors during a hearing at the Stark County Courthouse Monday afternoon.

A 38-year-old former elementary school custodian pleaded not guilty to luring minors during a hearing at the Stark County Courthouse Monday afternoon.

Tyler E. Wilson is accused of pressuring or inviting a person who he believed to be a minor to engage in sexual acts with him in December, according to his criminal complaint.

He allegedly sent a text message to a person he believed to be under the age of 15 and requested they have intercourse and engage in other sexual acts with him, according to the complaint.

He also requested the recipient send him "sexy photographs," according to the complaint.

Stark County State's Attorney Tom Henning would not disclose the age or gender of the alleged victim, but said he or she was a minor.

The contact was solely over a cell phone and no physical contact was made, Henning said.

Wilson used to be a custodian at Jefferson Elementary School in Dickinson, according to a previous Press article. He was still employed at the school at the time the alleged behavior was going on, Henning said after Monday's hearing.

"The employment relationship between Mr. Wilson and the (school) district has been terminated and we have nothing else to say about the situation," said Dickinson Public Schools Superintendent Doug Sullivan. "I just hope it works out as well as possible for the family, for all the families involved."

DPS has not received any complaints about Wilson, Sullivan said.

Wilson was released on his own recognizance in December, but will be liable for a $5,000 unsecured bond, according to court records.

He is not allowed to have contact with Jefferson Elementary School, use a cell phone or have contact with any juveniles, according to court records.

However, he is allowed to have supervised contact with his own children.

Wilson's daughters were placed with a family member after charges were filed, according to a previous press article.

Wilson waived his right to have a preliminary hearing Monday.

He is charged with a Class B felony, which is punishable with up to 10 years in prison and $10,000.

Kevin McCabe, Wilson's attorney, declined comment after the hearing.
