Gas leak closes downtown streets for an hour

A natural gas leak at Dickinson Auto Supply has closed down adjacent downtown streets.
The Dickinson Fire Department and Montana-Dakota Utilities responded to the leak at approximately 3 p.m Thursday, Fire Chief Bob Sivak said. First Street East was closed from Second Avenue East to Third Avenue East. Third Avenue was also closed from First Street to Villard Street. The Dickinson Police Department directied traffic.
The leak was caused when a contractor performing construction work hit a pipeline, Sivak said. No injuries were reported and the departments cleared the area before 4 p.m. The leak was expected to be fixed Thursday night.
