Cramer to get fundraising boost from George W. Bush

BISMARCK — Former President George W. Bush will headline a Texas fundraiser for North Dakota Republican Rep. Kevin Cramer's bid for Senate next week, the congressman's campaign said Wednesday, Sept. 12.

Guests at the fundraiser will include former House Majority Leader Dick Armey, former Bush adviser Karl Rove and former college basketball coach Dale Brown. It'll be held Sept. 19 in Fort Worth.

The event will come less than two weeks after President Donald Trump spoke at a Fargo fundraiser for Cramer, who's challenging Democratic Sen. Heidi Heitkamp. Cramer has lagged behind Heitkamp in fundraising during the closely watched race that could tip the balance of power in the Senate.

Heitkamp jabbed Cramer Tuesday for attending a Texas fundraiser and missing a forum at the Big Iron Farm Show, where she addressed the crowd. Cramer's campaign said he already had another commitment when he received the invitation for the farm show and noted Heitkamp has also raised money from out-of-state sources.
