SELBY, S.D. — A county auditor in north-central South Dakota has been arrested, according to an article published in the Mobridge Tribune.
Walworth County Auditor Rebecca Krein was arrested for violating a state law that requires materials related to an open meeting agenda item to be made available to the public.
A warrant for Krein’s arrest, issued at the request of Walworth County State’s Attorney James Hare, states the violation occurred on Aug. 6, according to the article. Violation of the law is a Class 2 misdemeanor punishable by up to 30 days in jail, a $500 fine or both.
Phone calls to Hare's office for comment on Krein's arrest were not answered nor returned.
