Grassy Butte bull riders dominate at Dickinson rodeo

The Grassy Butte cowboys had a handle on the bulls at Monday's Dickinson High rodeo at the Dickinson State Outdoor Arena. Abe Dillman was one of four from Grassy Butte to clock eight-second rides in the final event of the day were from Grassy Butte.

Dillman led the way with a 73. Velva's Zac Peterson took second with a 70. Nathan Schaper (66), Michale Pojorlie (59) and Sam Dillman (57), all of Grassy Butte, were the only other cowboys who stayed on.

Belfield junior Trell Shypkoski scored the only saddle bronc ride of the day with a 58.

Likewise, Mandan cowboy Casey Breuer clocked the only timed ride in the bareback. He had a 67.

Marshall's Jori Gjermundson led the way in the pole bending with a time of 22.398 seconds.

Dodge's Shelby Schields held off 65 other cowgirls and handedly won the barrel racing with at time of 17.913 seconds. Runner-up Bobbi Grann of Sheyenne had an 18.253.

Hazen's Rebecca Chase beat Alexander's Tess Haugen in girls cow cutting. Chase won with a 74 and Haugen had a 72.

Watford City's Mamie Kieson stayed at the top of the North Dakota High School Rodeo Association breakaway roping standings with a winning ride of 4.04 seconds.

Sam Irwin of Alexander locked down the top time in the tie-down roping at 12.34 seconds.

Chase Peterson of Des Lacs had the top time of 6.39 seconds in the steer wrestling.

Minot's Zachary Bahm won the boys cow cutting with a 72. Bahm is currenlty leading the state standings in the event.

Jessica Bauske of Ray won the goat tying in 7.87 seconds.
