WILLISTON -- The Dickinson girls hockey team's season ended on Monday night, but not without a fight.
Rachel Hennessy scored four goals for Williston, which ended the Midgets' state tournament hopes with a 7-4 victory.
The top eight teams in the state at the end of the regular season advance to the state tournament. With the loss, Dickinson can finish no higher than ninth.
Dickinson set the tone early, with Christina Lantz scoring the game's first goal. However, Dickinson couldn't get much else going and ended the first period deadlocked 1-1.
After a tight first period, Williston exploded with four unanswered goals in the second.

Williston's top two scorers, Hennessy and Alissa Kyllo each scored two goals in the period.
"Going into the third period we knew we had to make a run to keep our season alive," Dickinson coach Ryan Love said.
After Hennessy scored two early third-period goals, Dickinson went on a three-goal run midway through the third.
However, Dickinson wasn't able to find the net for the final eight minutes.
"We had our opportunities the rest of the way in, but couldn't convert," Love said. "It's tough to win when you get outshot 46-25," Love said.
Midgets sophomore goaltender Ashley Ludwig had 39 saves. She stopped 13 shots in each period.
"The kids did a great job this year, considering we lost our top two scorers from last year," Love said.
Dickinson had 10 players, all of whom are underclassmen, reach career highs in points this season.

"It's tough to keep saying, 'Wait 'til next year,' but with more consistency, I think we can expect good things," Love said.
Dickinson finished its season with a record of 6-13-2.
