BISMARCK - Gov. John Hoeven today named Doug Goehring, a long-time farmer, rancher and businessman from Menoken, the state's new Agriculture Commissioner, according to a press release.
"Doug brings a background in farming, research, renewable fuels, exports and other valuable business experience to the agency," Hoeven said. "His background and his character reflect a healthy combination of progressive thinking and traditional values to the job, which is a good fit for North Dakota's agriculture community."
Goehring is a third-generation farmer, who operates a 2,000 acre no-till farm in south central North Dakota near Menoken. He has raised a range of commodities, including durum, barley, safflower, millet, sunflowers. He has also operated a feeder cattle operation. Currently, he raises corn, soybeans, spring wheat field peas, canola winter wheat and alfalfa, according to the release.
