North Dakota Gov. John Hoeven raised more than $1.3 million toward his U.S. Senate bid during the first three months of 2010.

According to Hoeven's quarterly report to the Federal Election Commission, his campaign netted $1,388,538 in contributions as of March 31.

That figure does not include a $100,000 loan from Hoeven.

After campaign operating expenses, Hoeven has more than $1.2 million in cash on hand to use in his campaign against Democratic-NPL candidate Tracy Potter.

Hoeven and Potter are vying for the Senate seat being vacated by retiring Sen. Byron Dorgan.

"The outpouring of support shows that people are responding to our message, and we are encouraged by their enthusiasm and willingness to come out and get involved," Hoeven said in a campaign statement.
