BISMARCK (AP) -- A Canadian Pacific Railway "holiday train" is passing through North Dakota again this year, and through part of South Dakota for the first time.
The railroad's holiday trains feature Christmas lights and live entertainment. They schedule stops in numerous towns in the northern U.S. and southern Canada to raise donations for local food banks.
Last year, the program helped raise more than $500,000 and 250,000 pounds of food.
This year's U.S. holiday train starts in Scranton, Pa., on Nov. 28 and concludes in Carpio, N.D., on Dec. 17. For the first time, it will visit South Dakota communities where the Dakota, Minnesota and Eastern Railroad Corp. operates.
