Icy roads lead to crash in Montana

BUTTE, Mont. (AP) -- The Montana Highway Patrol says icy roads contributed to a crash near Divide that caused the death of a 61-year-old Wise River man.

BUTTE, Mont. (AP) -- The Montana Highway Patrol says icy roads contributed to a crash near Divide that caused the death of a 61-year-old Wise River man.

Butte Silver-Bow Coroner Lee LaBreche told the Montana Standard the victim was Bob Schonsberg.

Trooper Paula Williams says a man driving a pickup lost control on Highway 43 east of Wise River at about 7:30 a.m. Tuesday. The pickup crossed the center line and hit a passenger car nearly head-on. Schonsberg was pronounced dead at a Butte hospital.

The 53-year-old Butte man driving the pickup was not injured.

“This is sensationalism at its finest, and it does not deserve to be heard in our state capitol,” Rep. Erin Healy, a Democrat and one of 10 votes against the bill in the 70-person chamber, said.
The North Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
