WATFORD CITY – A 26-year-old Idaho man died early Wednesday in a collision on frost-covered U.S. Highway 85 in McKenzie County, the North Dakota Highway Patrol said.
A Chevrolet 2500 pickup driven by a 45-year-old Tioga man was headed south on Highway 85 near milepost 178 about 6:30 a.m. Wednesday.
At the same time, the man from Wendell, Idaho, was driving north on Highway 85 in a Dodge Neon and failed to maintain control on frosty roads, the Highway Patrol said.
The Dodge crossed the median and entered the southbound lane, with the pickup striking the rear of the car. The Tioga man was injured. Both men wore seatbelts.
Authorities said names will be released Thursday after family is notified.
