Inmates sent to help clean up trash

PIERRE, S.D. (AP) -- The South Dakota Department of Corrections says state prison inmates were sent to help with cleanup projects along interstate highways.

PIERRE, S.D. (AP) -- The South Dakota Department of Corrections says state prison inmates were sent to help with cleanup projects along interstate highways.

Minimum-security inmates from the South Dakota State Penitentiary started picking up trash Monday along I-229 in Sioux Falls.

And inmates from a minimum security unit at Yankton were sent to pick up trash from ditches along Interstate 29 between the Davis-Hurley exit and the border with Iowa. That project was expected to be completed by Thursday.
