Cities under alert include: Dickinson, Minot, Bismarck, Jamestown, Valley City, Devils Lake and Grand Forks.
An alert means motorists can travel, but may encounter areas of challenging winter weather driving conditions, according to the North Dakota Department of Transportation and North Dakota Highway Patrol.
