Jake's Auto Detailing is getting ready to have its grand opening on Jan. 1.

The new business being launched by Jake Gawryluk will offer auto detailing, pickup box liners and covers, hand car wash, WeatherTech products, and accessories.

"I won't have anything in house, but I have a distributor that I can have stuff here within a day," he said.

Gawryluk will also offer special System X ceramic coating.

"It's a clear coating you put on after you have a full paint correction and all the scratches are out of the vehicle," he said. "You just put it on, let it cure for a few days, and it repels water, gives you some protection against rock chips, acid rain, graffiti. A lot of things."

Gawryluk has always wanted to start his own business, and said making the dream come true has been "really awesome."

"I've always detailed my own vehicles," he said. "This last summer I figured out there's a market for it, and I think I finally found something that will work for me."

Gawryluk loves detailing vehicles, a focused process that involves carpet cleaning, buffing, scratch removal.

"I haven't had a job like this ever," he said. "It's not really work at times. It feels like work, but for the most part it's just come in, punch in, and have fun."

Gawryluk enjoys being able to make someone's car like new again. More than once he has seen jaws drop.

"Especially when they come in when they're really dirty," he said. "By the time I'm done, you can really see the results."

He added, "Most of my customers seem like they're surprised when they see the results."

Gawryluk hopes to expand his business going into 2019.

"Where I want to be by summer is to have one person working in the front and a couple of people working in back," he said. "In the summer, there's a little more demand, so I think I'll definitely need to get some more employees."

Preparing the 21st Street East location has been a challenge, but worth it, Gawryluk said.

"It was practically set up to have a detail shop in here," he said.

While he will have a grand opening Tuesday, he won't start detailing until the day after.

"It'll just be a time for people to come in and talk about the coating, and just come in and check us out," he said.

Gawryluk is exciting to be launching his business Tuesday.

"I'm excited and nervous at the same time," he said, "but I think it's going to go well and Dickinson's going to be happy with the new business."
