JAMESTOWN (AP) -- Jamestown officials say they hope to fill 125,000 sandbags.

They've opened the Civic Center for the work, and expect to finish it by April 10.

Jim Weight is coordinating the city's sandbagging efforts. He says Jamestown High School and Jamestown College are sending volunteers for sandbag shifts. He says inmates at the James River Correctional Facility also are helping.

The North Dakota Farmers Union and the law enforcement center are offering vehicles to transport volunteers.
