The New York Jets waived former Dickinson Trinity and North Dakota State running back Kyle Steffes earlier this week.

The team made the move Tuesday so they could sign former Georgia running back Danny Ware off waivers from the Tennessee Titans.

"It's been happening to a lot of my friends too," said Steffes, who signed with the Jets as an undrafted free agent immediately after the conclusion of the NFL draft. "First they talk to you and say, 'We've decided to make the business decision to release you.' They said they were happy with my work ethic and attitude."

Steffes has returned to Minneapolis and is relaxing after the New York rookie camps and mini-camps. He said he has also been in contact with his agent, Frank Murtha, about possible other NFL destinations.

"He (Murtha) said it's probably a better time to get released now before training camp than after training camp," Steffes said. "If I can get picked up by a team now it's better because I can go through training camp."

Steffes graduated NDSU with a major in Business Finance and intends to use the degree eventually.

"Basically I'm hanging out and waiting for the call," Steffes said. "If not, (I will) start pursuing the next chapter of my life."
