An airplane has crashed at the Beach airport, according to a press release.
Thomas Mau, Kenmare, was flying the aircraft Friday from his hometown to Beach, according to the North Dakota State Highway Patrol. As he was landing he lost control, and the plane went off the runway into a field. The aircraft hit a hay bale and came to rest, according to the release.
Mau sustained injuries and was transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Dickinson. The airplane sustained severe damage to the front and undercarriage. The release did not specify the type of plane Mau was flying.
The crash remains under investigation by the Highway Patrol and Federal Aviation Administration. The Beach Ambulance also responded to the incident.
