KENSAL (AP) -- A Kensal man faces charges for allegedly castrating a woman's dog.
Television station WDAY reports that 55-year-old Kevin Gienger was arrested on suspicion of stolen property and mistreating animals in last weekend's incident. He's since been released from jail.
The Stutsman County sheriff's office says the purebred poodle was found at Gienger's home, along with scalpels and syringes.
Authorities say Gienger didn't have the owner's permission to castrate the dog.
Gienger told The Associated Press that the dog was running wild in the neighborhood and causing a nuisance.
