After working alongside Steve Cole for several months, Klayton Oltmanns decided to open his own Edward Jones office in Dickinson. Oltmanns' new office is the third Edward Jones location in Dickinson.

Oltmanns is located on the far east end of Pacific Plaza, which is directly east of Applebee's. He and Connie Monson, office administrator, opened the new location on Jan. 11.

Edward Jones offers financial services for individual investors. Oltmanns advises clients about college funding, savings for retirement and 401k plans.

"What sets us (Edward Jones) apart is that we offer one-to-one contact. We really cater to our clients," Oltmanns said.

Oltmanns was raised in Wyoming and graduated from Dickinson State University in 1992. He became involved with Edward Jones in January 2006.

"Steve Cole actually helped me get started. The intention always was to spin out into my own office," Oltmanns said.

"When Klayton joined my office, the goal was to help me provide the level of service investors have come to expect from Edward Jones, while extending our services to additional investors. Klayton has proved himself more than capable of doing so. I'm going to enjoy watching him build a successful business of his own," Cole said.

Before the space in the Pacific Sound Plaza became available, Oltmanns was unable to find an ideal location. He said his current location was worth the wait.

Oltmanns chose Pacific Plaza because of "the allure of being in a brand new office that no one else had been in before."

The office had to be remodeled to accommodate Oltmanns' and Monson's needs.

"We had it customized to be our office," Oltmanns said.

Unlike Oltmanns' previous office, the new location has a classroom. Oltmanns plans to use the classroom to hold informational seminars for the public.

Other advantages of Oltmanns new office is it's larger, has 12-foot ceilings and a convenient location, which has brought more walk-in traffic.

"I didn't have a fireplace before, either," Oltmanns added.

Oltmanns and Monson also enjoy the extra sunshine the windows in their office provide.

"The view is wonderful," Monson said.

The new office produced many new perks for Oltmanns and his clients, but the purpose of the business has remained unchanged.

"It hasn't changed the aspect of our business," Monson said.

Financial advising has its ups and downs, but Oltmanns enjoys working with people and finds financial advising gratifying.

"The market declines present the biggest challenges, but some of the best opportunities as well," Oltmanns said. "I think the neatest part is seeing people reach their financial goals."

To make an appointment with Oltmanns call him at 701-225-7148, or stop by the new office at 244 14th Street West Suit D.
