BISMARCK (AP) -- State Rep. Dave Weiler has pleaded not guilty to a charge that he assaulted his wife.
Weiler is set for trial May 14 on the misdemeanor charge.
The Bismarck legislator is accused of pushing his wife, Nicole, to the ground twice, early on the morning of March 28. Authorities said she suffered bruises and complained of lightheadedness and nausea.
Weiler has said the incident involved an argument and called it an "unfortunate private matter."
He's free on a $250 bond and is under orders to have no contact with his wife. The charge carries a maximum penalty of 30 days in jail and a $1,000 fine.
