On April 7, legislators from both parties in the House Appropriations Committee passed amendments making cancer screening a priority, specifically to fund Women's Way and colorectal cancer screening programs. Scientific research tells us that the prognosis for breast cancer, cervical cancer and colon cancer is excellent if caught early. The fight against these diseases benefits tremendously from early detection.
This is an important issue to me, as an individual who has experienced how cancer affects your life and your loved ones.
Cancer is not a partisan issue. I applaud the House Appropriations Committee recognizing the benefits of early detection and putting party differences aside on the issue of cancer prevention and early detection.
