The city of Regent will be celebrating its centennial on June 24-27, 2010.

In preparation for the event, a book of histories from present and former residents of the city and the surrounding area is being compiled. No matter where you live now, we are interested in you and your history. Stories for the book are wanted from anyone who lives, or lived, or attended school in any of the following townships: Alden, Black Butte, Chilton, Farina, Indian Creek, Madison, Rifle, St. Croix, Tepee Butte, Wagendorf and in Regent itself.

You could update what was in the previous books of 1961 and 1985 or write something new. You can write about your parents and siblings in one story and your own in another or combine the two. Pretend you are telling someone about your life and write it like a mini-biography or interview. Topics that could be included are: your childhood years, games you played, schools you attended, special holidays or memorable events, service to your country or war-related stories, farming or job-related stories, prices or purchases you remember, who you married and when, names and ages (or birthdates) of children, hobbies, membership in organizations, honors, travel and much more. A photo may be included but be sure to designate who is in it and the year it was taken.

An early deadline for stories was April 1 but now at least try for July 1. You can hand write, type, or e-mail your information but please get it to me as soon as possible. Also designate if you are interested in purchasing a book which will be on sale during the celebration and include your name, address and phone number.
