DICKINSON — Stark Development Corporation is rewarding shoppers for going local. Over the next few weeks they can enter their receipts from Stark County businesses to win weekly prizes for their Buy Local and Win Stark Strong Campaign.
“Stark Development Corporation asks businesses throughout Stark County to help make Stark Strong successful by donating gift cards, gift certificates or cash donations,” Danita Tysver, Stark Development associate vice president, said. “Stark Development Corporation matches dollar for dollar by purchasing additional gift cards and certificates at their business.”
Those who want to enter the drawings must make a taxable sale purchase at a Stark County business and enter their receipt into the weekly drawing.
“Pictures of the winners are taken at the place of the winning receipt,” Tysver said. “Stark Development Corporation provides up to $10,000 in matching funds to local businesses who donate gift cards.”
Shoppers do not have to reside in Stark County, but must be at least 21 to enter, Tsyver said. One entry into the weekly drawing is made for every dollar spent in Stark County.

“They can be any business, they don't need to be locally owned or operated,” Tsyver said.
Stark Development Corporation Executive Vice President Ryan Jilek said they hope to give out over $2,000 each week for the four weeks of the campaign. This year’s Stark Strong holiday campaign has four different rounds for shoppers to enter receipts.
“They must be dated for the week of the drawing and they must be from a Stark County business and have sales tax collected on the purchase,” Jilek said. “Then on the Tuesday following the week of the entries, we will do the drawing.”
Stark Development Corporation created the campaign to provide exposure to local businesses and give back to the community for keeping their dollars local, Tsyver said. It runs from Nov. 25 to Dec. 26.
In 2021, Stark Development Corporation ran two Stark Strong campaigns for a total of 10 weeks. They gave away gift certificates to Stark County businesses and prizes totaling nearly $25,000, she said. There were 50 winners and 72 sponsors.
