Lois worked for a telephone company after her schooling.

In 1951, she was united in marriage to Howard Anderson, of Lodgepole, S.D. To this union, six children were born, Dianne, Monica, Peter, Paul, Mavis and Lori.

Lois and her husband ranched in the Lodgepole area all of their married life.

She loved the farm life, raising chickens, gardening and caring for her flowers.

Crossword puzzles were also a favorite pastime. She loved doing volunteer work, wherever and whenever needed. Lois served on both the school board and election board.

She was affectionately known as "grandma", not only to her grandchildren, but almost everyone she knew, including the neighbor kids.

Her husband, Howard, passed away in on May 6, 1996. Lois continued to live on the ranch after his passing. She was always a positive person and demonstrated her "toughness" and bravely battled cancer.

Her courageous battle ended peacefully with her family at her side in Hettinger on Sept. 25, 2007.
