GRAND FORKS, N.D. -- A Grand Forks man pleaded guilty and received 30 months in prison for stealing an ATM from a Hilton Garden Inn in January.
Daniel Joseph Ganyo, 51, was sentenced for conspiracy to commit a burglary at the Grand Forks hotel. The sentence will be concurrently with the same or lesser sentences for the other charges.
A second defendant, 27-year-old Jeffrey Allen Conn, faces the same charges from the incident. He is scheduled to appear in court next Monday.
At 3:03 a.m. Jan. 19, University of North Dakota police officers were called to the Hilton Garden Inn on campus for a report of a burglary, where an ATM from the hotel had been loaded into the back of a stolen truck, according to court documents.
Police attempted to stop the vehicle near the Center for Innovation on UND's campus when Ganyo and Conn fled on foot, but they were both arrested, officers said.
