MINOT -- Minot police have identified the victim in a stabbing death in northwest Minot involving an apparent altercation between three brothers.

The victim, Ignacio Contreras-Castillo, 28, died of stab wounds late Tuesday afternoon at an apartment on 4th Avenue NW.

Ignacio was allegedly stabbed by his brother, Adolfo Contreras-Castillo, during an altercation in their apartment. An autopsy was performed on Ignacio at the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Bismarck earlier Wednesday confirming the stab wound caused Ignacio’s death, police said.

Another brother, 19, was also allegedly stabbed by Adolfo and was taken to Trinity Hospital. Police say he was treated for a stab wound to the hand. His name is not being released.

Adolfo is in the Ward County Jail facing charges of murder, aggravated assault and two counts of terrorizing.
