Man pleads guilty to sexual assault at NDSCS

WAHPETON (AP) -- A former North Dakota State College of Science football player has pleaded guilty to a reduced misdemeanor charge of sexual assault and been sentenced to the two days in jail he's already served and a year of probation.

Nineteen-year-old Jacob Rylander of Sawyer was accused of assaulting a college student in her campus apartment last September and initially faced a felony gross sexual imposition charge.

Assistant State's Attorney Ron McBeth tells the Daily News that officials decided a plea agreement was the best resolution. The newspaper reports that the victim approved of the deal and a judge accepted it.
