FARGO - A 28-year-old man has been sentenced in federal court to more than five years in prison for sexual abuse.
Troy Donavan Woods Jr. was charged with sexual abuse for a Jan. 18, 2014, incident where he engaged in a sexual act with a woman on Spirit Lake Reservation when she was incapable of understanding the situation, but Woods was well aware, according to court documents.
Woods was sentenced Monday to 70 months in prison and five years of supervised release. As part of his release, Woods must participate in a chemical dependency program, receive psychiatric counseling, undergo a sex offender evaluation and have no contact with the victim.
It was requested that the defendant be allowed to serve his sentence at a medical center because he is suffering from "a number of ailments" after falling from a roof, according to court documents.
