BISMARCK(AP) -- The state Parole Board says a man sentenced to prison for the 1982 stabbing death of his wife will be released to a transition center next fall.
The board decided this week that Ronald Gant will serve the last six months of his sentence at the Bismarck Transition Center to prepare him for a return to the community. He is to be transferred to the center on Oct. 27, 2010.
Gant was handed a 43-year sentence for the death of 29-year-old Mary Louise Gant. Her body was found in the bathtub of her Grand Forks apartment on Aug. 10, 1982. Ronald Gant pleaded guilty to murder the following year.
A statement from the Parole Board says Gant will be required to wear a GPS monitor and have no contact with the victim's family. His parole is to expire on April 17, 2011.
