MANDAN (AP) -- Mandan city commissioners appointed one of their own to lead a committee to try to come up with a plan to handle noise complaints from residents of waterfront homes.
People living along the Missouri River say it's too noisy and have asked the city to pass an ordinance that would restrict restaurants and bars near river developments.
City commissioners took nearly two hours of testimony late Tuesday afternoon from nightclub operators, developers and nearby residents.
Businesses say they try to limit the sound but homeowners say they can't sleep because of the noise.
Commissioner Tom Jackson was chosen to lead the committee and was asked to present recommendations at the Sept. 29 meeting.
