Mandan fire officials say a neighbor came to the rescue of a man in a burning duplex.
The fire started in the kitchen of the residence Sunday afternoon. Firefighter Shane Weltikol says a neighbor noticed smoke, called the fire department, then helped the resident through a window and down a ladder.
The man was taken to a hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation.
Authorities did not identify either man. They did not immediately know the cause of the fire or have a damage estimate, though Weltikol said the residence was uninhabitable.
