FARGO -- Two Spirit Lake Nation tribal members were sentenced Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Fargo for causing two deadly accidents while driving drunk, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.
Jamie Lee Belgarde, 38, St. Michael, was sentenced to two years in prison for a crash in June in the reservation that killed a passenger, his brother Donald Belgarde Jr.
Jamie Belgarde will have three years of probation after his release and was ordered to pay $4,500 in restitution to the reservation. He pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter in March.
Louis John Dunn, 36, Fort Totten, was sentenced to three years and five months in prison for a head-on collision in October in the reservation that killed Andrew Greywater, the driver of the other vehicle.
Dunn will have three years of probation after his release. He pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter in March.
