MANDAREE - Two men that died Friday night after their car hit a cow have been identified, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
Kaleb Newel Steed of Mountain Home, Idaho, was driving eastbound on BIA 12, approximately 12 miles east of Mandaree. He was driving from Elmer’s Point to Skunk Bay when he struck a black cow with his 1993 Honda Civic. The vehicle overturned multiple times and came to rest on the wheels, according to the release.
Steed, 27, was not wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Highway Patrol. Jake Alexander Holm, 19, of St. George, Utah, was wearing his seatbelt. He was also pronounced dead at the scene.
The release did not state the condition of the cow.
The Highway Patrol did not release the names of the individuals pending notification of family.
