Midgets beat Demons with another sweep

BISMARCK -- The Dickinson High volleyball team continued to get back on the winning track as the Midgets triumphed 3-0 over Bismarck High in Class A, West Region action Tuesday at the Bismarck High's gymnasium.

BISMARCK -- The Dickinson High volleyball team continued to get back on the winning track as the Midgets triumphed 3-0 over Bismarck High in Class A, West Region action Tuesday at the Bismarck High's gymnasium.

Dickinson topped the Demons 25-16, 25-20 and 25-8 to complete the sweep.

"Overall, it was a very good effort," Dickinson coach Jay Schobinger said. "Game 2 was a little bit tighter than we would have liked, but Game 3, we bounced back."

Katelyn Steffan, a senior middle hitter, led the Midgets with 11 kills, five digs and four blocks.

"She had a nice night," Schobinger said. "All of our offensive players had a nice night. We didn't have a lot of hitting errors, which was nice to see."

Senior outside hitter Paige Nash had 11 kills to go with two aces. Setter Whitley Abrahamson dished out 29 assists and contributed eight digs and two aces.

"The last two matches, we've really maintained our intensity level throughout," Schobinger said. "We're really staying focused."

Dickinson will host an Invitational on Friday and Saturday.

The Midgets improved to 5-1 in the West Region and 12-1 overall.
