BISMARCK -- Andrew Jahner sparked Dickinson High in the first half and the Midgets rolled to a West Region boys basketball victory over Bismarck St. Mary's on Monday night.
Jahner scored 12 of his 14 points in the first half as second-ranked Dickinson built a 40-13 halftime lead en route to a 78-39 victory.
"He did a nice job getting us going, hit some shots, got to the paint," Dickinson coach Dean Winczewski said.
Dickinson senior forward Tate Kick had a strong night as well, charting game highs of 18 points and 14 rebounds.
However, Winczewski said the Midgets' ability to shut down the Saints' (1-17, 0-15 West) offense turned the tables early.

Marcus Fridley added 13 points and starters Taylor Bruhschwein and Kyle Schroeder each scored eight points for the Midgets (15-3, 12-3), who shot 47 percent from the field.
"We had good balance," Winczewski said. "It's a good way to get ready for Thursday."
The Midgets host the No. 3-ranked Mandan Braves and senior guard Justin Behlohlavek that in the regular-season finale for both teams.
Behlohlavek is the West Region's leading scorer, averaging 26 points per game.
Kick is the second-leading scorer at 24 points per game.
The Braves are 12-6 overall and beat Dickinson 79-74 on their home court earlier this season.
"Hopefully we're ready," Winczewski said. "It'll be a great test."
