BEULAH -- It was ugly but Beulah coach Doug Olson will take anything he can get when it comes to District 14 boys basketball games.

Dustin Stromme scored 18 points and had four 3-pointers for the Miners as they held off Killdeer 45-36 on Thursday night.

"(Stromme) has played really well for us and he hit some 3s when we needed him to in the first half," Beulah coach Doug Olson said.

Killdeer (13-2, 2-2 district), ranked second in Class B, shot 11 of 11 from the free-throw line, but that's where its luck ended.

The Cowboys were 1 of 15 from 3-point range, 28 percent from the field and scored their least amount of points in a game this season.

"If there's a time for that to happen it's now," Killdeer coach Rich Dufault said.

Jacob Wheeling and Austin Dufault each scored 14 points for the Cowboys.

Casey Becker added 11 points and Tyler Zacher had 10 for the Miners (13-2, 3-1), ranked seventh in the state.

Dufault said it was another night where the toughness of District 14 showed.

"There will be no upsets in the district tournament because anybody can beat anybody on any given night," Dufault said.
